Rotary Event to Benefit Fannie Brown Booth Memorial Library

June 28, 2016 - The Rotary Club of Center will be hosting it’s 5th annual What-A-Melon 5K and Fun Run, Saturday, July 9th beginning on the Center Square. Each year Rotary has chosen a local non-profit organization in which to donate a majority of the proceeds of this event. In years past, we have donated to wonderful organizations such as the Shelby County Children’s Advocacy Center, Center Softball Association, Scouting, and Shelby County Outreach Ministries. This year Rotary is donating to the Fannie Brown Booth Memorial Library.

The Library provides many programs throughout the year such as adult and youth writing workshops, story-time for younger audiences, and their very successful summer reading program. The summer reading program engages younger youth with puppet wise and creature teacher and the tween readers with guest speakers and various interactive activities. The Library just recently hosted Colorpalooza, a coloring group which included the whole family.

Rotary encourages everyone to come out and participate in this fun family event. The Fun Run and 5K will be held at the Center Square. The fun run will begin at 7:00AM and the 5K at 7:30AM. Both events are for people of all ages. You can walk or run either event. Strollers are acceptable. T-shirts will be available for the first 125 participants.

If there are any questions or if you are an individual, organization or business interested in being a sponsor of this event, please contact Scott Stanfield at sstanfield@fsbctx.com or 598-3311.
