LETU ENGINEERING STUDENTS COMPLETE PROJECT FOR CCI GROUP

(Longview, Texas) - A team of LeTourneau University electrical, computer and mechanical engineering students have recently completed a year-long corporate-sponsored project to design an automated security system for CCI Group's new wall-mounted computer workstation.
Students working on the Electronic Access Computer Station (EACS) senior design team project had a unique opportunity to put their education to work as they gained hands-on experience outside the classroom, under the direction of LETU engineering professor Dr. Joonwan Kim.
As an industry partner, CCI Group gained the time and abilities of LETU engineering students for one school year, along with final results of the project, as well as potential future employees with meaningful experience.
In medical facilities, offices, and retail spaces throughout the U.S.A., CCI Group provides exceptional quality plastic laminate casework, stainless steel casework, and solid surface countertops. Since 1982, CCI has been a preferred design and manufacturing firm for architectural casework, retail fixtures, and computer stations, handling projects at each stage including planning, design, development, value engineering, quality manufacturing, and professional installation.
LETU students gained exposure to real-world applications of their engineering education that expands the classroom experience, as well as industry contacts and a unique, hands-on experience.
LETU's School of Engineering has been working with partners in industry like CCI Group for senior design projects for years. Other successful past senior design projects have been conducted for other industry partners such as Rockwell Collins, STEMCO, General Dynamics and Flanders, Inc.
"LeTourneau University welcomes the opportunity to serve our industry partners in projects like this.  These kinds of senior design team projects enable our students to apply the exceptional engineering education they receive at LeTourneau, enabling them to use their creativity and ingenuity to solve real-world problems under the oversight of our experienced faculty members," said LETU Dean of the College of Engineering, Business and Technology Dr. Ron Delap.  "Companies interested in being industry partners with LETU engineering student design teams can contact the School of Engineering at (903) 233-3910."
CCI Group's Director of Manufacturing Technology Jeremy Whitehurst said working with the LETU students was a worthwhile venture for CCI Group as well as for the students.
"At CCI Group, we are proud to build collaborative relationships with teams such as the LeTourneau University students who share our commitment to excellence," Whitehurst said. "Inspiring students to display the best of their creativity and ingenuity while impacting the real life marketplace exemplifies the best of what CCI Group is about. We enjoyed working with the team and accomplished our goals together. I think we all celebrated the end result with great satisfaction."
LeTourneau University is an interdenominational university where educators engage students to nurture Christian virtue, develop competency and ingenuity in their professional fields, integrate faith and work, and serve the local and global community.
