Crash in Polk County

On 1/14/16 at about 5:48 pm, Polk County DPS Troopers were notified of a two vehicle crash on US 190, approximately two miles East of Livingston in Polk County. The preliminary crash investigation indicates a 2014 Mazda passenger car was traveling westbound on US 190 when it reportedly took evasive action to the left to avoid striking a vehicle that was backing out of a driveway. The Mazda subsequently drove into the eastbound lanes where it struck a 2009 Toyota passenger car and then overturned. The driver of the vehicle that was backing out of the driveway left the scene of the crash and has not been identified or located. The driver of the Mazda was identified as Dawn Diane Poirier (30), from Livingston, TX. Dawn Poirier was transported to CHI St. Luke’s hospital in Livingston where she was pronounced deceased at 6:15 pm. Two passengers with Dawn Poirier were identified as Maddalynne Poirier (7), and Knighton Poirier (age unknown); both were transported to Hermann Hospital in Houston for treatment. The driver of the Toyota was identified as Tracy Nettles (51), also from Livingston, TX. Nettles was also transported to Hermann Hospital in Houston. The only description of the vehicle that left the scene at this time is that it is a white pickup. No additional information is available at this time.
