50 Years Goes by Fast

Gerrie Forbis Day of LeTourneau University is having a celebration, honoring her 50 years of service. It will be held on Friday, January 15, 2016 at 10:50 - 11:30 a.m. in the Belcher Center at LETU campus in Longview.  Gerrie Forbis, 79, began working as an executive secretary for LeTourneau University in January 17, 1966, when the school was still LeTourneau College.  She was the executive assistant to then-president Richard LeTourneau, son of the university's founders. "Miss Gerrie," as she is known on campus, has made history for faithfully serving the university for fifty years, and she has no plans to retire.  A cancer survivor, Miss Gerrie encourages others and has been a godsend to countless students, faculty and staff over the years.  She and her husband, Jim, own an accounting firm in Longview, and neither have plans to retire.
