On 1/2/16 at approximately 9 pm, Angelina County DPS stopped a 1995 Ford truck on SH 94 in Angelina County for speeding. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Paul Edward Murphy (34), from Lufkin, TX. A strong odor of marijuana could be detected from inside the vehicle and a search was conducted. A search of Murphy and his vehicle revealed multiple controlled substances in various locations. Murphy was taken into custody and charged with two counts of

Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 3 (Class A. Misd), two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 (F) and Possession of Marijuana (SJF). Murphy also had an arrest warrant issued by the Lufkin Police Department for Fail to Comply with Registration Requirements as well as traffic warrants. Murphy was transported to the Angelina County Jail.
