Update: Shooting In Stonewall Leaves 1 Dead

Sheriff Rodney Arbuckle is pleased to announce the capture of a subject involved in a shooting in Stonewall, LA. On December 28, 2015, at about 4:00 p.m., DeSoto Parish Sheriff's Office was advised of a shooting in the 200 Block of Richardson Road in Stonewall, LA.  Dispatch was advised the victim had been shot in the head with a firearm in what is believed to
be a domestic situation.  Patrol deputies responded to the residence along with DeSoto EMS.  While responding, dispatch was able to gather information from a witness and identified the suspect as Donovan D. Carman (W/M - DOB: 08/10/1979) of Shreveport, LA.  Dispatch also learned that the suspect had taken a child from the residence and fled the scene.  Local agencies were notified of the incident and a BOLO was given.  It was found that the suspect drove to a relative's residence in Haughton, LA and dropped off the child before leaving.  The suspect was located and apprehended by Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office shortly after 5:00 p.m.  At this time, the victim is in critical condition at University Health.  The investigation is on-going and formal charges on Carman are pending.  We would like to thank the local agencies that assisted in the capture of this suspect and the safe return of the child.
 
The victim of the shooting passed away last night, December 28, 2015, hours after the shooting.  He has been identified as Bobby Nichols (Age: 67) of Stonewall, LA.  The suspect, Donovan D. Carman, has been charged with First Degree Murder in the killing of Mr. Nichols.  He is pending transfer to DeSoto Parish Detention Center.  The investigation is still on-going as more information is being gathered at this time.  Sheriff Arbuckle would like to express his condolences to Mr. Nichols family during this difficult time.
