The Panola College men's basketball team defeats 5th ranked South Plains
College, 76-69
Levelland, Texas - The Panola College men's basketball team defeated South
Plains College, 78-69. With the win, the Ponies improve their record to
6-2. "This was a huge win for our program." stated Head Coach Grant
McMillan. "Not many teams go in and win at South Plains.They have a Hall of
Fame Coach sitting over there, this game will help us come January and
February. Our guys competed at a high level and kept on answering the bell
time and time again." He added.
Offensively, Panola was led by Charles Tucker (*Lansing, Michigan*) netting
22 points and was a perfect 8 for 8 from the free throw line. He also
dished out nine assists. Devyn Wilson (*Brooklyn, New York*) and Tope
Arikawe (*Nigeria*) also scored in double-figures with 15 and 12,
respectively. Terry Holt (*Nashville, Tennessee*) came off the bench and
went a perfect 4 for 4 from the three point line to help the Ponies
offense. Arikawe led the team in rebounds chasing down 11. As a team,
Panola shot 50 precent from the field and 64 percent from the three point
line. Panola out rebounded South Plains, 43-33.
Panola will next be in action this upcoming Saturday, November 21st as they
take on Coastal Bend. Tip-off is set for 4:00 PM at the Arthur Johnson
Gymnasium.
