TxDOT BEGINS WORK TO REPLACE BRIDGE IN POLK COUNTY

Barricades have been set for a bridge replacement scheduled to begin this week in Polk County.

The $3.2 million project is scheduled on FM 1988 at Long King Creek near the Livingston State Park. Longview Bridge and Road, contractor for the project, will work in a half-mile area to replace the bridge and approaches.
The project will be constructed in two phases. The new bridge and approaches will be built to the south side of the existing bridge. Traffic will be moved to the new bridge once work is completed. The old bridge will then be removed.
In addition to barricades, TxDOT crews have placed message boards alerting motorists to the road work. Motorists traveling in the area are advised to slow down and be prepared to stop. Be alert to all signage and workers in and near the project area.
