Mr. Pate was born September 18, 1911, in Arcadia Community.  Dalton was the son of the late Willie Bruce and Myrtie Pate. Dalton was a simple man with no aspirations of fame or fortune. He lived his life by the Ten Commandments and the Golden Rule.  He loved his family and he loved his Lord.  His Bible was almost exclusively his reading material.

He was born into farm life and never lost his love of planting and watching things grow. Anyone passing by his house in the spring would have seen him in his garden, well up into his late 90's, pushing his "idiot plow" or chopping that last sprig of grass.  About the only thing that would get him out of the garden in the spring was an invite of "let's go fishing". Dalton loved to fish, it didn't matter if he caught a 5 lb bass or a hand size perch.

In the fall you might see his truck on the side of some back road.  He would be in the woods with his 22 Rifle, or his 16 gauge in later years, and his dog, hunting squirrels.  He would have some mutt that someone gave him, or a stray that turned up at his house, it didn't matter.  Dalton would have it treeing squirrels in short order.   Dalton didn't kill for the sake of killing, he loved squirrel dumplings.  Biscuits, dumplings, and just about anything sweet and he was "good to go".

Dalton Pate is survived by two sisters, LaVerne Pate Hughes and Orine Pate Ingram; one son, Robert Glyndon Pate and wife, Helen of Timpson; three grandchildren, Debra Pate Smith and husband Paul of Timpson, Darryl Pate and wife, Debra of Crystal Beach, and Donna Pate of Timpson; 7great grandchildren, 13 great great grandchildren, and many relatives friends, and loved ones that will miss him greatly.
