Obit- Delbert Jack Palmer

Delbert Jack Palmer, 96, of Center, passed away in the company of family and friends on Sunday, August 16, 2015, 
 
in Nacogdoches.
 
Services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at Mangum Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Carl Smith 
 
officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 18, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. 
 
until 8:00 p.m. Mangum Funeral Home. 
 
He was born March 25, 1919, in Shelby County to William James and Camilla Palmer. He was a member of the First 
 
Baptist Church in Center and attended Center High School. He served in the United States Army Air Corp with the 
 
Combat Crew #333 WWAAF, Walla Walla, WA. For several years, he worked for John G. Harris Hardware. Then 
 
Palmer Refrigeration was formed, and he worked there until the business was sold. After Palmer Refrigeration, he 
 
worked for E.L. Bruce Company until he retired. He enjoyed farming and visiting his friends and relatives. He was a 
 
loving husband and father, and friend to many. His grandchildren and great grandchildren were the joy and delight 
 
of his life. He enjoyed driving to visit his nieces and nephews, friends and neighbors, and was always the life of the 
 
party. He remained very active until just a few weeks ago. He was very special to all and will be dearly missed. 
 
He is preceded in death by his Parents, William James and Camilla Ida Palmer, Wife, Dorothy Mary Palmer, Brother 
 
and Sister-in-law, Johnny Lee and Virginia Palmer and Sister and Brother-in-law, Zelma Adel and John Neal Lacy.
