On 8/11/15 at about 1:40 PM, Shelby County DPS Troopers responded to and

 

investigated a two vehicle crash on SH 87 approximately four miles South of 

 

Shelbyville, TX in Shelby County. The preliminary crash investigation indicates 

 

that a 2005 Mack dump truck was traveling southbound on SH 87 when a 

 

northbound 2005 Kenworth truck tractor crossed over into the southbound lanes 

 

where the two vehicles struck head-on. The driver of the 2005 Mack was identified 

 

as Mark Allen Vaughn (44), from Milam, TX. Vaughn was transported to Good 

 

Shepherd Medical Center in Longview for treatment. The driver of the 2005 

 

Kenworth was identified as Kenneth E. Davis (67), from Joaquin, TX. Davis was

 

transported to LSU Medical Center in Shreveport, LA and was pronounced 

 

deceased at 3:24 PM. This crash is still under investigation. No additional 

 

information is available at this time.
