Obituary for Mrs. Mary Jean Hill

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Jean Hill, 80 of Carthage, Texas will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Dale Reed officiating. Burial will follow in the West Hamilton Cemetery in Shelby County, Texas under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6–8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Hill passed away August 9, 2015 in Longview, Texas.
Mrs. Mary Jean Jacobs Hill was born December 25, 1934 in Shelby County, Texas. She was one of six children born to John William and Stella Wilburn Jacobs. Jean was raised in Shelby County and attended Paxton Schools. She worked for over 18 years for the Panola County Sheriff’s Department, was a member of the Carthage Missionary Baptist Church and loved playing the piano, square dancing and playing bingo. Mrs. Hill is preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Vernon Jacobs, Martha Lucille Robbins and James Jacobs. 
Mrs. Hill is survived by her daughters, Marilyn Barnard of Longview, LaWanda Carty and husband Randall of Dallas; brothers, Harold Jacobs and wife Dorothy of Overton, Roy Jacobs of Ragtown; grandchildren, Wesley Barnard and wife Christina of Hallsville, Stacy Holland and husband Josh of Carthage, Julie Coleman and husband Conner of Lakeland, GA, Josh Heard of Beckville; six great grandchildren; numerous other relatives and a host of friends.
