On Wednesday August 5, 2015 members of Superior Healthplan arrived to Center High school to give them a check for The Backpack program. According to Alease Copeland, counselor for Center ISD and founder of the backpack program, The program helps children in need who are hungry by sending a backpack with child safe foods home every weekend for the school year. It’s a great program and lots of money goes into helping the children. We have local people and businesses who donate and assist in the program, but it is a true blessing to receive this grant.
Rachel Thompson, Region 5 Community Ambassador out of Tyler Texas told CBC they have a grant program and they provide a Provider and a community agency with a check in person every quarter. They had just come from Texarkana from Genius Prime Care that has a warriors club where they do physical fitness for kids. Superior Healthplan gave $5000 to Center ISD for the program.
If you would like any more information on the Backpack program or how you can help, you are asked to please call Alease Copeland at 936-598-6137
