DPSO Release - AlertFM

The Desoto Parish Sheriff's Office, Office of Homeland Security Emergency
Preparedness, has acquired, and put into place, a parish-wide emergency
alerting system to alert citizens of the parish in the event of any natural
or man-made disasters, severe weather warnings, amber alerts, road closures,
evacuations, temporary loss of parish services (i.e. 911), or any other
emergency information that is vital to the public.  This service is free to
the parish and has been provided to our parish by the Governor's Office of
Homeland Security.

To receive alerts on your iPhone or Android phone (free of charge), go to
your app store and download the Alert FM app.  When prompted, enter your zip
code.  This will allow your phone to receive Desoto Parish OHSEP Alerts.

If you do not have a smart phone, you may purchase an Alert FM receiver, if
desired, through the Sheriff's Office or through the company website at
www.alertfm.com.  These receivers receive information over FM radio signals
which means, even if the electricity and cell phone signals are lost, these
battery backed up units will still be able to receive vital alert
information.  The cost of one receiver is $39.99.
