East Texas Peace Officers' Association to assemble in Center June 28-30

There will be extra law enforcement in Center beginning this weekend as the 64th annual East Texas Peace Officers’ Training Conference is held at the Windham Civic Center June 28-30.

Over 100 officers will be taking part in classroom training to keep-up with their required continuing education and other events.

San Augustine Police Chief Gary Fountain is president of the association. He says along with some real good training, they expect to have a great annual meeting and top it off with the awards banquet.

Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center will conduct a blood drive from 10-2:30 p.m. Monday at the civic center, with a $5 Starbucks card going to all donors.

The awards banquet will conclude the conference Tuesday night as officer of the year and humanitarian of the year will be among the awards. In addition, the peace officers will also award four $1,000 scholarships.

The East Texas Peace Officers’ Training Conference is open to any Texas law enforcement officer and jailer.
