Officials with Bassmaster say Toledo Bend Reservoir is the top bass fishing lake in the country, according to the professional bass fishing organization.

Lake Sam Rayburn comes in at number five this year.

The 185,000-acre Toledo Bend has never fallen below No. 15 in the rankings, and according to Bassmaster Magazine Editor James Hall, the border lake between May 2014 and April 2015, had 79 bass over 10 pounds certified. Plus, he said it typically takes more than 25 pounds to win a one-day event.

Last year's No. 1 fishery, Lake Michigan's Sturgeon Bay dropped to No. 2, and the top lake in 2013, Michigan's Lake St. Clair took No. 3. Ranking just above Sam Rayburn at No. 4 was California Delta.

Texas earns bragging rights with the most lakes ranked within Bassmaster’s 100 Best with a total of nine lakes.
