Family traveling through Center fired upon by man with shotgun, search underway

The Shelby County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting incident that occurred latE Thursday morning on US 96 North of Center when an unknown driver shot into a vehicle, striking the driver and passenger. 
 
Sheriff Willis Blackwell tells Center Broadcasting a black male driving a small white 4-door sedan pulled up along side a Chevy Surburban and shot into the driver's side with a shotgun loaded with bird shot, striking the driver, a 40-year old man from Burleson, Texas  in the arm and head, and also a front-seat passenger, the man's 17-year old son, who was hit in the face. 
 
The injured were taken by ACE EMS to ETMC-Carthage for treatment. Their condition's not known.
 
Sheriff Blackwell said two other children, a 12-year old male and 7-year old female, travelling in the back seat, and were uninjured. 
 
The incident took place some two miles from Center on US 96 north around 11:30 a.m.
 
The family had been to visit their grandmother in Hemphill and were enroute back home when the incident took place, the sheriff said.
 
Authorities are looking for the suspect, who was wearing a do-rag. 
 
Sheriff Blackwell reports the occupants said they did nothing to provoke the shooting. The report the suspect slowed down, they went around, and that's when the suspect sped up along side the vehicle and fired a shot.
