Tenaha City Council elects new councilwoman Harris as mayor pro tem

The Tenaha City Council elected new Councilwoman Natalie Harris as Mayor Pro Tem at their meeting Monday.

Ms. Harris was elected to the council in May.

According to City Secretary Sheryl Clark, council also set up a reimbursement plan for the $16,900 loaned to the Tenaha Volunteer Fire Department from the Tax Account to go toward repairs on the pumper truck. Monthly payment is $250 for 5-years, or could be paid-off at anytime.

Tenaha Council also decided to go with local financial institution, First National Bank of Hughes Springs to finance the purchase of the John Deere mowing equipment for some $32,000.

Ms. Clark said Utility Superintendent Stacy Cranford advised that Matt Barton has obtained his Class D water license and would be going for further training.

In addition, bidding on the installation of a six-inch water main is to start soon, and Ms. Clark noted that Cranford encouraged citizens to thank TxDOT for helping to clean out stopped up gutters after a request was made.
