Out-of-town billboard advertising request denied by Center City Council

A billboard advertising funding request made by Wulf Center Trades Day and Antique Mall to the City of Center Hotel/Motel Advisory Board was denied at last week’s Center City Council meeting when a second to a motion to grant the monies was not received.

The request of $10, 700 for 12 months was to erect billboards out-of-town in Nacogdoches and Carthage.

According to City Manager Chad Nehring the Hotel/Motel Board recommended a budget amendment to fund the request, saying there was sufficient fund balance within the Trust Fund for amendment. He added the one-year commitment would be in next year’s budget and modification was done to promote local hotels and highlight only the Trade Days event.

The request to the Hotel/Motel Advisory Board was made by Fred Wulf and Catherine Livingston.
