Tuesday night's storm brings heavy rainfall to parts of area

We reported on Wednesday's newscast that the thunderstorms that came through late afternoon and during the evening included some high-gusty winds causing trees to be blown over on Hwy. 87 near Timpson.

Heavy rains also accompanied the storms, especially in south Shelby County and north San Augustine County.

According to Official San Augustine Weather Observer Tom Johnson, Geoff Reeder in north San Augustine County picked up 2.26 inches; nearby his neighbor Norman Neel had 3.21 inches, Mike Ross in the Clever Creek community of Shelby County with 3 inches, and a report of 2.25 inches in Shelbyville.  Johnson said he had .40 just east of San Augustine and in Center, Jim Forbes recorded a tenth of-an-inch.

Our 7 to 10 forecast is for more of the same summer pop ups today and return to thundershowers the rest of the week.
