Flag retirement ceremonies scheduled Friday & Saturday

The Timpson Youth Advisory Council members will be conducting a flag retirement ceremony for the City of Timpson at 5:30 p.m. Friday, June 12 at SoSo Park. All are welcome to observe.

Shelby County Memorial Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8904 and the Ladies Auxiliary will join local scouts in observance of Flag Day on Saturday, June 13th with a Flag Retirement Ceremony.  The program will begin at 10:00 am at the post home, 617 Highway 96N, Tenaha Hwy. in Center.  Unusable flags that have been collected will be burned in accordance with the US Flag code.  The public is cordially invited.

Post Quartermaster Larry Hume reminds citizens to replace their flags, both US and State when they become torn and tattered.  These unusable flags can be given to any VFW member or brought by Chief Imaging, 614 Tenaha Street for proper disposal. If you have a flag that should be retired but do not have a replacement, it is better not to fly it at all.  Questions please call Larry Hume, 598-2976.
