Center City Council says "no" to rezoning request on Hurst Street

The Center City Council took the recommendation of the Planning & Zoning Committee and said no to the request to rezone property at 413 Hurst Street from heavy commercial to industrial to allow installation of a digital billboard during its meeting Monday.

City Manager Chad Nehring said there no discussion among council when it came to vote on the request other than referencing of the public hearing comments which preceded the vote.

The rezoning request was made by Mark Ivey, and the property is where the yogurt shop and U-Haul rental place were once located.

A letter to the P&Z from a neighbor said they were concerns of what type manufacturing plant could be placed at the location.

In other business, the city’s janitorial contract was re-approved with Renfro’s.
