Microbrewery could be on the way to downtown Nacogdoches

Downtown Nacogdoches could be the site of a microbrewery, as the Nacogdoches City Council will consider a specific use permit at their meeting June 16.

City officials say the facility would be located on North Mound Street and requires licensing from the TABC and would probably be open three days a week for tasting and tours.

Paperwork says the company would be called Fredonia Brewery with a tap room for sales and tours during community downtown events.

It's reported the brewery also has plans to be open for parties, wedding receptions and club meetings.

Nacogdoches city officials amended ordinance some six years ago to allow construction of microbreweries downtown.

A public hearing by the Nacogdoches Planning & Zoning Commission will be held Monday, and another at the council meeting Tuesday before action could be taken to allow permit of the microbrewery.
