Local Sports Round up 06/09/15; Rider Football Schedule includes 5 home games

Roughrider football schedule released

Center ISD Athletic Director and head football coach Barry Bowman has released the Roughriders' 2015 Football Schedule.

 

After scrimmages Aug. 14 at Palestine and Brook Hill on Aug. 20, the Riders open the season Aug. 28 at home against Waskom where it’s designated as Sr. Night-Football Only.

 

Center then has three-straight non-district road games at Buna Sept. 4, Garrison Sept. 11 and Jasper on Sept. 18, before returning home for three consecutive starting Sept. 25 with Hardin-Jefferson, homecoming Oct. 9 with Spring Hill to open Dist. 6 4A, and Tatum comes to town on Oct. 16.

 

The Riders go to Atlanta Oct. 23, have their final home game Oct. 30 against Pleasant Grove where it’s Sr. Night for Band & Cheer, and finish the regular district schedule at Gladewater Nov. 6.

 

Center Lady Rider Athletic camps set

The Center Lady Roughrider Athletic Program is hosting a Volleyball Camp on July 6th-9th from 8:00 AM-12:00 PM at the Center High School Gym. It is for Incoming 5th graders through 9th graders. The cost will be $20 for individuals or $35 for two children families. Pre-registration is from now until June 29th.

 

The Center Lady Roughrider Athletic Program is hosting a Basketball Camp on July 27th-30th from 8:00 AM-12:00 PM at the Center High School Gym. It is for Incoming 5th graders through 9th graders. The cost will be $20 for individuals or $35 for two children families. Pre-registration is from now until July 20th.

Underwood remains at SFA

SFA men’s basketball coach Brad Underwood is staying at Stephen F. Austin, at least another season. Underwood, who is 61-8 in two seasons at SFA, was among a list of candidates for the Iowa State position. Iowa State named Steve Prohm as its men’s basketball coach Monday. It came open when former coach Fred Hoiberg left the Cyclones to become the head coach of the NBA’s Chicago Bulls.
