San Augustine County Commissioners accept Hunter's resignation, taking resumes for commissioner replacement

San Augustine County Commissioners accepted the resignation of longtime Pct. 1 Commissioner Tommy Hunter at a special called meeting Monday morning.

In his resignation letter to the court, Hunter said, “After careful consideration, I have made the decision to resign. I am very grateful to have been a part of this organization. I wish continued growth and success in the future.”

Hunter was re-elected in November and served 20 years.

County Judge’s Administrative Assistant Sandy Jenkins says resumes are being accepted for the Pct. 1 seat and should be submitted to County Judge Samye Johnson's office in the San Augustine County Courthouse.

The court also approved the flood disaster declaration in order to allow for application to be made for DETCOG funding to assist with the replacement of county culverts and a bridge damaged from the recent heavy rains.
