Upset alert in Dist. 19-4A last night as Rusk shuts-out Carthage, 4-0, dropping the Bulldogs a full game back of the Center Roughriders, and opening the door to an outright district championship with a win over Rusk tomorrow night. Center is 9-2, while Carthage is 8-3 and will wrap up the regular season at Tatum Friday. Tatum and Rusk are tied at 4-7, with both going to post-season.

Rider Head Baseball Coach David Sheppard tells Center Broadcasting the team's non-district game scheduled against Crandall tonight will be played in Henderson, not Center, as had been originally scheduled. Coach Sheppard says first pitch will be at 6 or 7 p.m.

Friday's regular scheduled district finale against Rusk is still on for Roughrider Field. It's Senior Night.

Saturday, the Riders will play Carthage (non-district) at 2 p.m. in Gary, instead of making the drive to Van.

In Dist. 23-2A, it’s all in the hands of the Joaquin Rams as they’re a win away from clinching the third and final playoff spot should they win at home against the Tenaha Tigers tonight. The Rams are 8-5 after a 4-0 win over the Shelbyville Dragons (6-8) last night. Meanwhile, the Timpson Bears (9-5) see their playoff hopes growing thinner after a 16-2 loss at Beckville. Should the season end in a tie, Joaquin owns the tiebreaker over Timpson by virtue of winning both regular season games. Tenaha beat Mt. Enterprise, 5-1 last night. Gary has taken second place and will meet Colmesneil in a home-in-home bi-district best-of-three bi-district series starting May 7 at Gary. Beckville is district champ and has a first-round bye.

In Dist. 22-3A, No. 1 Central Heights ends its season 14-0 with a 6-2 win over Hemphill yesterday. The Garrison Bulldogs (9-4) are headed to the playoffs and will conclude the regular season at Corrigan Friday.

Dist. 19-4A Standings

Center 9-2

Carthage 8-3
Tatum 4-7

Rusk 4-7
