A San Augustine man is being held in the San Augustine County Jail on a charge of Indecency with a Child in connection to allegation he molested a 7-year old at a birthday party earlier this month.

The San Augustine Police Dept. says 33-year old Miguel Gomez was taken into custody after the child's mother reported the incident on April 13. She said Gomez touched her daughter inappropriately at a house on Grand Street as children were asleep inside the residence adults continued to party outside.

The victim's mother said her daughter ran outside crying and said Gomez had touched her.

After confronting Gomez he told the mother he was drunk and didn't know what he had done. However, Gomez brother said he had seen the suspect sitting on the bed and the little girl crying.

He's being held on $100,000 bond.
