Sheriff confirms man dies from self-inflicted gunshot during attempted warrant service

We told you yesterday that an attempted warrant service at a residence in the Paxton Community turned deadly Tuesday afternoon.

 

Shelby County Sheriff Willis Blackwell has released additional information on the self-inflicted gunshot incident. He says at approximately 5:26pm Sheriff's Deputies along with investigators were at 3239 State Hwy 84 East, attempting to serve an arrest warrant for violation of an emergency protective order.

 

Entry was made into a residence when a single gunshot was heard from within the residence in an adjoining room. It was discovered that 33-year old Allen P. Shuemaker of Tenaha was deceased from an apparent self inflected gunshot wound.

 

Sheriff Blackwell made contact with Texas Ranger Travis Brazel to conduct the investigation.

 

An autopsy was ordered by JP 4, Jenny Hicks.

 

Sheriff Blackwell expresses appreciation to all law enforcement officers and agencies for their quick response to his officer's calls for assistance.

 

Funeral service for Allen Shuemaker is pending at Watson & Sons Funeral Home.
