Bo Barbe, 79, of the Aiken Community of Shelby County, passed away Sunday, April 19, 2015 at his residence.

 

Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center.  Funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at Watson & Sons Chapel with L.D. Eddins officiating.  Interment will follow at White Rock Cemetery in Center.

 

Mr. Barbe was born November 12, 1935 in Shelby County to Charles N. Barbe and Lois McKinzie Barbe.  He graduated from Center High School in 1953.  Mr. Barbe went on to further his education at SFA, where he earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in 1957 and his Masters Degree in 1963.  He was a teacher at Excelsior Common School District, Timpson ISD and Center ISD.  Mr. Barbe also worked at Shelby County Co-op. He was a member of Shelby County Farm Bureau, SFA Alumni Association and Excelsior ISD School Board. Mr. Barbe loved sports of all kinds, especially enjoying basketball and hunting.  He was of the Church of Christ faith.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Mr. Barbe’s name to Pinkston Roughrider Scholarship Fund, PO Box 152, Center, Texas 75935.

 

Pallbearers will be James Miles, Don Wheeler, Lee Sowell, Benny Ray Russell, Doyle Carter and Lane Dunn.  Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Stevens, Bobby Collins, Farm Bureau Board of Directors and Excelsior School Board.
