On Thursday, April 16,Panola College’s Shelby Regional Training Center held a welding contest for area high schools. The winning students received scholarships and prizes donated by local companies. Scholarship donations were donated by Spartan Buildings, L&R Timber, and Common Disposal. Prize donations included welding supplies from Matthesson of Nacogdoches,a discount for an Orca cooler from Ace Hardware, and a trophy buckle from 2C Silver.Judges for the event were Dwayne Jacobs and Chris Renfro from Dragon Industries. Winning students were:

2.       Matthew Hughes- Joaquin ISD

3.       Jake Wagstaff- Shelbyville ISD

4.       TJ Allums- Carthage ISD

5.       Pablo Moralez- Tenaha ISD
