Center Intermediate students compete at Region VII Kilgore Innovation Inventions Competion

   On Monday, April 6th, Center Intermediate Gifted and Talented students participated in the Region VII Innovative Inventions Competition held in Kilgore. Our students competed in Division 1 for 4th and 5th graders. Center teams and individuals presented a total of 11 inventions.
 

The 5th grade teams earned a total of 5 awards during the competition.  Lance Holloway and Seth Shamblin came away with two awards for their Drop Zone Decoy invention. They received 1st place for *Most Innovative Design* and 1 st place for *Most Effective Display*.  The team of Ian Williams, Zach Carlton and Brayden Britt received 2nd place for *Most Effective Display* with their invention, The Medi-Pillow. In the category of *Innovative
Design*, Chandler Jones and Wyatt Stone placed 2nd with The Ultimate Binder Clip.  Placing 2nd in *Potential Benefit to Society* were Emilee Elliott and Sarah Scull with their invention, Hair-o-tizer.

 

The 4th grade teams did an amazing job, bringing home 3 awards. The team of Emily Arcibar, Arista Lee and Andrea Horton won 3rd place in *Potential Benefit to Society* with their Beauty Organizer Set.  Eric Allen and Jordan McSwain won 3rd place in *Innovative Design* with their invention, Game Chair 5000.  3rd place *Most Effective Display* was won by Carly Gray and Maribel Cervantes with their Writer Ruler.

All individuals and teams did a wonderful job in creating and presenting their inventions. We would like to thank Mr. Hagler for our pizza lunch and Mrs. Lynn Williams for making the trip with us!  We are looking forward to competing again next year.
