Shelby County man back in custody after escaping from Nacogdoches County Deputies

A Shelby County man who escaped from Nacogdoches County Sheriff’s Deputies Tuesday, was taken into custody when he turned himself in Wednesday morning.

According to Nacogdoches County Sheriff Jason Bridges, 31-year old Kyle Wayne Harris of Timpson was able to open the door on a patrol unit, with handcuffs on, and escape from custody while deputies searched his vehicle.

He’s being held in the Nacogdoches County Jail on Forgery of a Financial Instrument and Escape While Arrested or Confined.

Deputies found Harris near his residence in Shelby County where they served a warrant Tuesday afternoon.

Sheriff Bridges says a search of the area was conducted after he escaped, but officers weren’t able to located the suspect. Wednesday morning, Harris came out of the woods and turned himself in to Pct. 5 Constable Stanley Burgay.

Harris is also suspected in several burglaries that occurred in northern Nacogdoches County last weekend.

Sheriff Bridges says more charges could be pending, possibly Possession of a Controlled Substance for methamphetamine that was found in Harris’ vehicle.
