Friday is taken as a holiday by county and local governments and some businesses in remembrance of Good Friday, the Christian religious holiday during Holy Week commemorating the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. It is not a national or state holiday.

The Shelby and San Augustine County courthouses, as well as local municipalities will be closed Friday. Schools are also closed for the day.
