PORTACOOL wants to help. So over the course of the next few days we will be collecting companywide to have a garage sale in her honor. The date for this event will be Saturday March 28th in the parking lot at the Wulf shopping center in Center, Tx starting at 8:00 a.m. Please bring your donations to the former Wulf Outdoors building. We ask that all donations be in good condition and priced for the sale to insure a successful fundraiser for Ashley and her family. Drop-off days are Wednesday 25th – Friday 27th.

 

Ashley is the daughter of Rick and Vivian Beene and a member of our PORTACOOL family. She has been fighting Cystic Fibrosis (CF) all of her life. CF is a genetic disease that affects the lungs, liver, pancreas, kidneys and intestines. The disease is beginning to take its toll on her lungs and liver and in order to survive she must have a lung and liver transplant.

Ashley was born on January 21, 1988 in Chesapeake Virginia, a U.S. Navy brat who attended high school in Shelbyville, TX. She is very outgoing and loves fishing and horseback riding, but the love of her life is her son, Carter, who is now four. Ashley eagerly looks forward to returning to an active lifestyle that will allow her to spend quality time with Carter, to be able to teach him how to fish, ride a horse and play baseball. Together, Ashley, Carter and her family are committed to seeing her through this transplant.

 

Transplants are life-saving but financially draining. Even with insurance, Ashley is facing very high uninsured expenses such as: co- pays and deductibles, doctor visits, travel and temporary relocation for three to six months to be closer to Houston Methodist Hospital and the costly immunosuppressant medications that she will need to take for the rest of her life (up to $2500/month).

 

To help with the financial burden of Ashley’s uninsured expenses, a fundraising campaign in her honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the South-Central Lung/Liver Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only.
