Local Sports Round up 03/25/15; Baseball & Softball scoreboard

Baseball:

 

Tuesday’s scoreboard:

 

Center (3-0) had a bye last night and will hosts Rusk Friday. Carthage beat Rusk last night, 11-1. Center’s on top of the district standings, with Carthage and Rusk at 2-1.

 

The Tenaha Tigers pick up their first District 23-2A win, a 6-3 decision over the Shelbyville Dragons. Both teams are now 1-3.

 

The Joaquin Rams get a 12-2 win over the Timpson Bears. Joaquin and Timpson are 3-1.

 

Gary beats the Martinsville Pirates, 9-8, and Beckville over Mt. Enterprise, 30-1. Gary and Beckville are tied for the 23-2A lead at 4-0.

 

In Dist. 22-3A, Woden knocks off the Garrison Bulldogs, 10-2. Garrison is 1-2, while Woden is 3-1.

 

Central Heights (4-0) over Central, 15-5.

 

The San Augustine Wolves are 3-4 in Dist. 24-2A after Zavalla comes away with a 9-8 win. Zavalla is 3-2.

 

Broaddus (5-0) had a bye. West Sabine leads 24-2A at 6-0.

The Center Lady Riders are 0-2 in Dist. 19-4A, after Henderson comes away with a 19-1 win last night in Center.

 

The Joaquin Lady Rams take a 12-2 five-inning win over the Timpson Lady Bears. Joaquin improves to 6-1 in district and is in a three-way tie with Alto and Cushing for the district lead.

 

The Shelbyville Lady Dragons are off to a 5-0 start in district play with a 27-3 five inning win over the Broaddus Lady Bulldogs.

Power Lifting:

 

The boys' state meet is this weekend in Abilene with several local lifters taking part.

 

Center - Devincent Hoyt, who was second at region in the 240 lb. division.

 

Shelbyville – Kal Metcalf was gold medalist in the 242 lb. division at region, while Octavian Burrell was silver medalist in the 198 lb. division.

 

Joaquin - Case Chambliss was gold medalist in the 148 lb. division at region.

 

Soccer:

 

The Center Rider Soccer team will play a first-round playoff game Friday night, March 27 at 5:30 p.m. against Mexia in Crockett. The Riders finished second in district.

 

Track & Field:

 

Weather permitting Thursday, the Alumi Relays are scheduled for San Augustine.

 

Little Dribblers:

 

The Tenaha Little Dribblers Basketball program has two teams headed to the national tournament April 8-11th in Nacona, Texas. In order to help with lodging and food costs during the tournament, the parents are having a bake sale in front of the Tiger Stop this Saturday, March 28th.  The parents and kids would love for the community to come out and buy some cookies and cake to support their teams.  

 

Joaquin Athletic Boosters:

 

The Joaquin Athletic Booster Fundraiser $10,000 raffle will be held Monday, May 11 in conjunction with the high school athletic banquet. The tickets are $100 each for the drawing, with only 250 tickets sold. The drawing goes as follows: 1st ticket drawn-$5,000, 2nd-6th tickets-$1,000 each. A total of $10,000 will be given away. There will not be a meal included with the drawing. If you would like to attend the athletic banquet as well, tickets for the meal will be on sell at the high school office at a later date. Tickets can be purchased from any Joaquin Athletic Booster member or the administration office.
