Nacogdoches Pro Rodeo & Steer Show gets underway Thursday

The 35th annual Nacogdoches Pro Rodeo and Steer Show is Thursday through Saturday at the Nacogdoches County Exposition and Civic Center. The Nacogdoches Jaycees help present the event. Gates open at 6:30 p.m. with action starting at 7:45 p.m. each night. The rodeo is produced by Pete Carr's Classic Rodeo Company.

Rodeo announcer Andy Stewart says a lot things come together to make the Nacogdoches rodeo a great event. He adds with the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo just wrapping up there's a good draw of cowboys, Carr's stock is some of the best in the business, and folks in this area appreciate a good rodeo.

Specialty act is Wrangler National Finals Rodeo clown and PRCA Clown of the Year nominee John Harrison.

Thursday night is Family Night and no tickets will be sold. They’re asking for a $2 donation to go to Glory Gang Child Ministries. Tickets may be purchased for Friday and Saturday at Outhousetickets.com or at Boot Barn in Nacogdoches for $7 a night or a $10 armband may be purchased for both nights, and Saturday Night is "Tough Enough to Wear Pink".

There are also two family oriented trail rides being held Saturday as part of the rodeo, the Shawnee Hill Trail riders off FM 1275 in Nacogdoches and the Trail Seekers that will leave from Appleby.
