The #16 state-ranked Center Roughriders and are scheduled to be at district rival Carthage. Center is 2-0 in Dist. 19-4A play. Action begins at 4:30 p.m. with JV.

The Timpson Bears (2-0 dist) go to Mt Enterprise.

 

The Tenaha Tigers (0-2 dist.) go to Beckville (2-0 dist.).

Power Lifting:

The girls' state power lifting meet is being held today through Saturday Corpus Christi. There’s a good representation of local lifters participating.

Shelbyville Girls – After placing second as a team at region the Lady Dragons have 7 at state. Qualifying for the state meet: Cleosha Jeter, Savannah Talbertt, Tristin Wilburn, Kennedy Parker, Harlie Hagler, Katie Kasey and Hannah Hall.

The boys' state meet is next week in Abilene.

 

Soccer:

 

The Rider and Lady Tiger Soccer teams will close out the regular season at Hudson Friday. Action starts at 5 p.m.

 

 

Shelbyville resident Summer Koltonski is racing Ironman Texas to raise money for the Cathy Fields’ Memorial Scholarship. Ironman Texas is May 16 in The Woodlands. This year Ironman Texas is the North American Championship. The Ironman consists of a 2.4 mile open water swim, a 112 mile bike ride, and 26.2 mile run. Ms. Koltonski completed the 140.6 mile race last year in 16 hours, 27 minutes, and 36 seconds. This year she’s training harder than ever to beat her time! Her goal is to raise $1,000! You can donate through her Go Fund Me Account or at Farmers State Bank. If you donate through the bank, you're asked to let the back know it is for Summer’s Ironman Race!

College Hoops:

 

Tonight's SFA Lumberjacks Men's Basketball against Utah will be televised at 6:27 pm central time on TruTv. TruTv channels are: 149 on Dish 246 on DirecTV.

 

The SFA Lady Jacks open play in the women’s NIT Tournament against TCU in Ft. Worth tonight. Tip-off is 7 p.m.

 

The Shelby County Ducks Unlimited Green Wing event that was scheduled for Saturday, March 21 has been cancelled and will be rescheduled for another day. Organizers say wet conditions and more rain expected led to the decision. We’ll have more information on when organizers plan to have that event.

 

The San Augustine County Ducks Unlimited Banquet to be held Saturday, March 21 at the San Augustine County Fair Grounds' Show Barn. Doors open at 5:30pm, dinner served at 6pm and Auction starts at 7:15pm. The event will feature a live auction, silent auction, raffles, and games!
