Shelbyville resident Summer Koltonski is racing Ironman Texas to raise money for the Cathy Fields’ Memorial Scholarship. Ironman Texas is May 16 in The Woodlands. This year Ironman Texas is the North American Championship. The Ironman consists of a 2.4 mile open water swim, a 112 mile bike ride, and 26.2 mile run. Ms. Koltonski completed the 140.6 mile race last year in 16 hours, 27 minutes, and 36 seconds. This year she’s training harder than ever to beat her time! Her goal is to raise $1,000! The Shelby County Ducks Unlimited Green Wing event that was scheduled for Saturday, March 21 has been cancelled and will be rescheduled for another day. Organizers say wet conditions and more rain expected led to the decision. We’ll have more information on when organizers plan to have that event.
