Shelby County Relay for Life moves to Shelby County Expo Center on May 15

The Relay For Life of Shelby County scheduled for May 15, 2015 at the CHS Roughrider Stadium has now been moved to the Shelby Co Expo Center due to several reasons including the lack of sufficient access to electricity and not being able to use the sound system and concession stand.

Due to the tremendous investment that CISD has made into the new stadium, we completely understand the need to protect it. We would like to thank everyone at the Shelby Co Expo Center for graciously donating the use of their facility again to us this year.

This is the 10th annual Relay For Life of Shelby County and we hope that everyone will come help us celebrate a decade of honoring our Survivors and Caregivers. I am proud to live in a county that supports the fight against this horrible disease. The American Cancer Society has made great strides in researching and developing new treatments for all cancers.

For those who don't know my story, my mother passed away from cancer in 2004. Due to the new treatments and medicines made available during her battle, she was with us for several years longer then the doctors had originally predicted. Words cannot express what that means to me. I know in my heart that the American Cancer Society and all the Relays around the world had something to do with that. As the commercial said...the gift was "priceless" and one that I can never repay.

So what I do is try to "pay it forward" and give that gift to someone else. So, I am asking for your help in giving the gifts of time, love and hope to families affected by cancer. Individually, we may think "what can my money do"? But I ask you...what could we do together? We can change peoples lives. Please come support the Relay and our fight against cancer. I hope to see you all there at 6:00pm on Friday, May 15, 2015.
