A Huffman, Texas bass angler pulled in a hog recently while fishing on Lake Sam Rayburn.
Darrell Tompkins and his two sons were on an outing earlier this week near Jackson Hill Marina when he threw a Stanley Spinner Bait of couple times when a largemouth bass took the bait and ran with it.
Tompkins said it took a “family effort” to get her in the boat, as the boys assisted their dad with the catch.
The giant fish weighed 14.32 lbs, was 26 inches long and a 22 ¾ inches in girth.
ackson Hill Marina personnel called Texas Parks and Wildlife to have the bass donated to the Share-a-Lunker program. The Sam Rayburn bass is now in its new home in Athens at the fish hatchery.
Data collected by the program shows that it takes 8 to 10 years for a bass to grow to 13-pound size.
Darrell Tompkins shows off the catch of a lifetime and joins a select few anglers
who have recorded a Texas Parks and Wildlife Sharelunker Large Mouth Bass.
The giant fish weighed 14.32 lbs is 26 inches long and 22 3/4 inches in girth.
