Local Sports Round up 03/13/15; Rider Baseball in Henderson today, Saturday

Baseball: (weather permitting)

 

The Center Roughriders are scheduled to play in a round-robin today and Saturday in Henderson, weather permitting. Coach David Sheppard advises Henderson tarped their field yesterday. The schedule for today has Center playing Marshall at 12n; and Center against Gilmer at 3 p.m. On Saturday, Center goes up against Marshall at 12n. All games are scheduled to be played at Henderson High School.

 

The Riders will return to district play at home Tuesday against Henderson.

 

The Timpson Bears got word Thursday the Lufkin-Hudson Tournament was cancelled.

 

The Tenaha Tigers will be at Timpson next Tuesday.

 

The Shelbyville Dragons were to have played Grapeland in a double-header Saturday in Shelbyville, but they have been cancelled due to weather and field conditions.

 

The Joaquin Rams have a bye today before having their district home-opener next Tuesday against Martinsville.

 

 

Softball (Friday, Weather Permitting):

 

The Center Lady Riders were scheduled to be at home to play Diboll in district today. However, games have been cancelled due to weather.

 

The Joaquin Lady Rams will play Wells at noon Saturday. The Lady Rams are to host Mount Enterprise today, but no decision has been made, yet.

 

The Shelbyville Lady Dragons go to Zavalla.

 

The Timpson Lady Bears are home against Douglass.

 

The Garrison Lady Bulldogs go to Corrigan.

FOX Sports Southwest is providing live television and webcast coverage this week of the UIL boys’ basketball state tournament from the Alamodome in San Antonio.

Semifinal games Friday, March 13 will be streamed on FoxSportsSouthwest.com.

Championship games on Saturday, March 14 will be televised on FOX Sports Southwest.

College Hoops:

 

SFA Lumberjacks and Lady Jacks are both in the Southland Conference Tournament in Katy this weekend. The men will play in the tourney semi-final against Northwestern State at 5 p.m. today. Should SFA win tonight, it will play in the finals at 8:30 p.m. Saturday. The Lady Jacks have a bye until Saturday.

 

 

Shelby County Ducks Unlimited is preparing for its annual Green Wing event at 10 a.m., Saturday, March 21. The event will be held at Bob & Sheilah Reeves’ residence on County Road 3121 off Hwy. 7 east of Center, right after passing the airport. There will be prizes for all kids, along with Texas Parks & Wildlife Game Wardens providing hunter safety, Mike Hudman with Black Water Retrievers with a dog demo and a free hot dog meal.
