UPDATE: Woman OK after all-morning search, husband arrested for theft of vehicle

After spending almost six hours combing county and private roads in freezing temperatures Thursday morning, law enforcement officials were able to locate a woman that reported she had slid off the roadway somewhere in the Lake Pinkston area and had no idea where she was.

Authorities conducted a search by vehicle, foot and even a DPS helicopter was called in to assist.

The woman was identified as Misty Knight of Buna. She reportedly called 9-1-1 around 6 a.m. Thursday saying she was in a vehicle off the roadway and had been there most of the early morning.

She remained on the phone with dispatch through most of the search while her vehicle remained running for heat.

Sheriff Willis Blackwell told us they focused the search along the County Road 1170 area, located off Hwy. 7 West, toward FM 138 and the Snow Hill area. Authorities also had Knight’s cell phone “binged”, but Sheriff Blackwell said that only focused on a three-mile radius.

At 11:30 a.m. Knight was located down an oil well site road by Texas Parks & Wildlife Game Warden Anthony King. She was reported to be unharmed.

Knight was transported by ACE EMS to Center Emergency Department for evaluation.

In the process of searching for Knight, Sheriff Blackwell said they recovered a truck on Hwy. 7 west at Aiken that had been reported stolen overnight. A man identified as Robert Golden of Buna, Knight’s husband, was in the vehicle.

He was charged with Unlawful Use of a Motor Vehicle.
