Ground breaking set for San Augustine Traffic Circle replacement project March 10

It’ll be another historical day in San Augustine next Tuesday, March 10 when TxDOT officials, the city of San Augustine, the county and Chamber of Commerce co-host a groundbreaking ceremony for the SH 21/U.S. 96 Intersection Construction Project that’s to replace the long-time traffic circle.

The 10 a.m. event will take place at the traffic circle and a reception will follow on the courthouse lawn.

Participants in the ceremony are TxDOT officials, Mayor Leroy Hughes, County Judge Samye Johnson, Texas Legislative representatives, Chamber of Commerce and Main Street representatives.

TxDOT will be erecting barriers around the intersection to protect the “shovel brigade” from possible danger during the brief ceremony and photo session.
