Shelby County Livestock Show to be held Friday, auction set for Saturday

The Shelby County Livestock Show & Sale will get underway at 10 a.m. Friday morning at the Shelby County Expo Center.

This year's event has been split into two days at different locations.

According to County Extension Agent Lane Dunn, moving the premium sale will hopefully raise more money for the kid's projects, and help make it more comfortable for buyers with the possibility of more inclimate weather.

Dunn says 4H & FFA students will be showing rabbits, swine, goats, lambs, followed by cattle.

He added there are 104 entries with 59 market animals and 49 breeding entries.

The Bar-B-Que for buyers and exhibitors will start at 6 p.m. Saturday followed by the auction.

Dunn says the Shelby County Livestock Show continues to grow each year which is due to the continued support of youth by local businesses and the community.

He added if anyone would like to be included in the premium sale as buyer you're welcome to attend, or if you would like to contribute without attending, just contact his office at 598-7744.
