Center PD issues information on auto-pedestrian fatality accident in Center

On Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at approximately 7:15 p.m. Officer Jeremy Konderla was dispatched to the 700 block of Tenaha Street in reference to an auto-pedestrian crash that occurred. Once on the scene Officer Konderla began to investigate the crash and learned that a 1999 white Ford Explorer driven by 36-year old Russell Jones of Center, was traveling north on Tenaha Street when a pedestrian, later identified as 63-year old Johnie Nash of Center, began crossing the street while not at a crosswalk. Witnesses at the scne state that Jones attempted to stop before striking Nash, but was unsuccessful and hit on the driver's sice, causing damage. Nash was taken by ACE EMS to Nacogdoches Medical Clinic-Center where she was pronounced dead by Judge Maxie Eaves. Nash was taken by Community Funeral Home to their facility until funeal arrangments can be made. The crash is currently under investigation and ongoing.
