Green Acres of Center and Farmers State Bank Sponsor Health Care & Social Services Day

The Shelby County Chamber of Commerce Leadership Shelby County Class of 2015 attended the Health Care and Social Services Day sponsored by Green Acres of Center and Farmers State Bank.  They visited several health care and social services facilities where they learned about the health services in Shelby County.

The class gathered at the Chamber office and met with the Session Coordinators, Meg Camp and Antoinette Polley, Class of 2013, to begin the day. The first session of the day began at the Shelby County Children’s Advocacy Center.  Denise Merriman, Executive Director, welcomed the class and gave them a tour of the facility and discussed services offered through the center.  The class visited several health and social service businesses including, East Texas Home Health, Center Emergency Department, Shelby County Outreach Ministries, Lakeside Village Assisted Living, Fresenius Medical Dialysis, the Rainbow Room, Pine Grove Nursing Center, Center Smiles of East Texas and Cline Family Medicine.  Health and Social Services Day gives the class the opportunity to see what services are available in the area and what opportunities are out there where leadership and volunteerism is needed.

The class will attend Energy Day, sponsored by Deep East Texas Electric Co-Op and Shelby Savings Bank, on Wednesday, March 18.  The class will have a full day learning about different types of energy and the oil and gas industry.

Leadership Shelby County is a year long program presented by the Shelby County Chamber of Commerce designed to identify potential leaders and develop within these individuals the knowledge, skills and vision necessary to enable them to actively participate in the enhancement of the quality of life in their communities.
