Funeral Notice: Lewis Fain Ramsey

 Lewis Fain Ramsey, 90, of Longview, TX, passed away Tuesday, February 24,2015, in Texas City, TX.

 

 Funeralservices will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, February 28, 2015, at TaylorFuneral Home, Timpson, with Bro. Randy Smith officiating.  Interment will follow in Tennessee Cemetery, Timpson,TX.

 

Born March 31, 1924, in Joaquin, Texas, Fain Ramsey was the son of thelate John Jackson and Sarah Jane (Ferguson) Ramsey.  He was one of seven children.  Mr. Ramsey graduated from Joaquin HighSchool.   After serving in the United States Army during WWII, Mr. Fain returned to Joaquin to work with his brothers building homes in  the Houston area.

 

Mr. Ramsey met his soul mate and was marriedto Sybil Lee Culberson Ramsey until the Lord called her home in 2002.  They moved to Longview, Texas where Fain wasself-employed as a cabinet maker and owned his own cabinet shop before retiringfinally at the age of 79. He enjoyed fishing any opportunity he had to doso.  He spent much time on the Sabine River catching big ones.

 

Fain also loved travelling to Alaska and the scenerythat was in Alaska.  Mr. Ramsey made manytrips  to and from Alaska by himself and withhis brother before his health failed.  Mr.Fain was a life-long member of First Presbyterian Church of Longview, Texas andloved his church dearly.

 

Survivors include daughter, Susan Carr and husband Raymond of Kenai,Alaska, 7 nephews, and two neices. In additionto his parents, Fain was preceded in death by his loving wife of 29 years, twobrothers and four sisters.

 

 In lieu of flowers donations may be given to FirstPresbyterian Church, 301 North Center St, Longview, Texas, 75601 or the AmericanCancer Society.
