Today is filing deadline for May 9 school board & city council elections

We're down to the final day for filing for a position on the ballot for the May 9 city and school board elections.

 

Today is deadline day.

 

As of yesterday afternoon, here's who has filed.

 

In the Joaquin ISD, Thomas Harvey and Maggie Bowden and incumbent Ronnie Belrose have made their intentions known. One other position is expiring, that of Luke Garrett.

 

For the City of Joaquin, incumbent council members LeeVern Stotts Gilliam and Mike Atkinson have both filed to run again, with a challenge from Joe Long. Two current Joaquin Council members have filed to run for mayor--Bill Baker and Pat Gray.

 

There has been five filing for three spots on the Tenaha ISD board, as Joe Anderson, David Fallin, Korey McClure and incumbents Bo Morris and Robert Barton have submitted paperwork. The position held by June Swint is also up.

 

In the City of Tenaha Council race, incumbent Larry Terry has filed, and challenger Natalie Long. Claudine Howard and Michael Baker’s spots on the council are also expiring.

 

At the Timpson ISD board member Dannie Hunt has filed for re-election, so has Carlos Johnson. The seats held by Tracy Hooper and Beth Tipton are also up.

 

At the Timpson City Council, Linda Hancock and Kenny Walker are running. The three incumbents have not filed, including Kyle Allen, Janell Baker and George Grace. 

 

In the Shelbyville ISD board of trustees, incumbents Joe Tom Schillings and Etola Jones have re-filed, so has challengers Chris Koltonski and Brad Hinton.

 

Remember, if you want to run you have until the end of business today to file at the respective school administration or city office.
