LUFKIN  – TxDOT officials announced today the planned closure through Friday of a portion of FM 1638 (Old Tyler Road). 

The road closure is required from the railroad tracks east to Ruby Street due to an emergency gas line repair by Center Point Energy.

Motorists should be aware and alert to the traffic detour and be prepared to take alternate routes. TxDOT crews will place barricades and signs at the site to inform motorists of the closure. As always, if workers are on site, reduce speed and give them a safe distance to work.
