Timpson ISD classes resume today after gas line break Wednesday

Class are expected to resume to normal at the Timpson ISD this morning after students were evacuated off campus following a gas leak late Wednesday morning.

 

According to Assistant Superintendent Mary Lynn Tinkle, a utility contractor that was boring for an underground fiber optics line and struck a Center Point Energy natural gas line in front of Timpson Middle School causing the leak shortly after 11 a.m.

 

As a precaution, students were removed campus-wide and transported by bus to First Baptist Church. The decision was made to dismiss classes for remainder of the day at 1 p.m.

 

Ms. Tinkle said a repair crew from Tyler was summoned to make a repair to the ruptured gas line.
