TxDOT will begin work on a total renovation of the well-known traffic circle in San Augustine next month.
Mayor Leroy Hughes told the San Augustine Chamber of Commerce Membership Meeting Tuesday that a ground-breaking ceremony will be held March 10 to kick-off the project.
Mayor Hughes says TxDOT’s plans are to place traffic signals, turn lanes and give the long-time traffic crossroads a total make-over.
San Augustine County Judge Samye Johnson says funding has been a “group” effort with the city, county and state all contributing to see the project come about.
She added after the ground-breaking event the morning of March 10, a picnic lunch will be served on the San Augustine County Courthouse lawn.
